Growing up, my grandpa and I used to make wooden toys on his bandsaw. My dad used to take me fluke fishing. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to appreciate the simple joys of working with your hands and the excitement of fishing. Both of those passions led me to lure making. Finest Kind Fishing Lures (a spin on my dad’s old construction company name) makes handmade fishing lures for the fisherman who doesn’t want a lifeless piece of plastic from China. Each lure built in my shop has its own quirks and feel. Every step in the process is done in my shed, from ripping down the cedar to airbrushing the scales. These lures are not perfect replicas of some store-bought junk; each lure has its own personality, and they are designed and built to catch fish when the “perfect” lures don’t. They’re crafted with hand-selected cedar sealed and epoxy-coated, giving them the most weather-resistant and durable finish on a wooden lure
